WoW study for women and men this summer; through August 14
Lisa Garrett is leading a special class called “How to Study the Bible” this summer. The study, while sponsored by WoW (Women of the Word) is open to women and men of all ages. It meets on Wednesday mornings in Room 222 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. through August 14.
Garrett adapted the study from the book “How to Study the Bible for Yourself” by Tim LaHaye. Some of the things up for discussion are how to intentionally read scripture and look for truths about God (His character, attributes, who scripture says He is), promises from God, and commands from God (instructions on how we are to live as followers of Christ). The study is easy to follow and very rewarding because it not only gets the Bible students in the scriptures, but teaches them what to look for when reading Gods word and how to apply it to their lives.

Abingdon Women visiting Arborlawn on Thursday, May 2
We invite all women of Arborlawn to attend the Abingdon Women event here on Thursday, May 2 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. The evening will feature worship music and talks by various United Methodist authors. Drop in early for a meet-and-greet with the musicians and authors at 6:30 p.m.
Worship for this exciting women's event will be led by Babbie Mason. Featured authors include Babbie Mason, Jessica LaGrone, and Kim Reisman.
Babbie Mason is an award winning gospel singer who has sung for Barbara Bush, Margaret Thatcher, Colin Powell, President Carter and many others. She has written a new book titled "Embraced by God: Celebrating Who and Whose You Are." When you meet her, you will meet a friend with a love for God and people.
Jessica LaGrone is an Associate Pastor at The Woodlands United Methodist Church. Her absolute passion is communicating the Word of God in ways that draw people in and make them realize it is really for them. Jessica has written two Bible Studies: "Namesake: When God Rewrites Your Story" and "Women in the Word." She is married to her husband, Jim, and they have two small children, Drew and Kate. Women of the Word: four new Bible studies start Wednesday morning, Feb. 13
Arborlawn's Women of the Word Ministry (WoW; formerly WMAA) announces four new Bible studies for ladies on Wednesday mornings beginning Feb. 13. Join the larger group at 9:30 a.m. that day in Room 231 (Parlor) for WoW Coffee Talk. The studies then run from 10-11:30 a.m. in Rooms 222, 223, 224, and 225 in the church's East Wing.
Living Beyond Yourself: This in-depth, 11-week, DVD-based Bible study by Beth Moore examines the Fruit of the Holy Spirit as presented in the book of Galatians. Moore walks participants through each trait of the Fruit and encourages women to know the freedom of a Spirit-filled life. Presenter: Lisa Marino. Workbook: $14.95.
One Thousand Gifts: This 5-session study is based on the best selling book of that name by Ann Voskamp. Now with videos, Voskamp encourages the participant to discover a way of seeing that opens ones eyes to everyday amazing graces, a way of living that is fully alive, and a way of experiencing the constant presence of God that will bring a deep and lasting joy. Presenter: Shirley Watkins. Workbook: $7.
Magnificent Obsession: This is a 7-session study of Genesis 12-22 by Anne Graham Lotz. Lotz challenges participants to follow Abraham’s example and not only embrace the God-filled life, but pursue Him in a relationship He would describe as a friendship.
