Styles & Smiles Fashion Show this Tuesday, July 26 at the Poly Center

Styles & Smiles Fashion Show is this coming Tuesday! Join us July 26 at 2:00 p.m. at the Poly Center campus of United Community Centers. The Poly Center is at 3100 Avenue I, Fort Worth, 76105; just a few short blocks south of the Texas Wesleyan University campus.
 
The kids have been practicing and preparing with all their hearts and are looking forward to showing the audience a thing or two about fashion, poise, and charm. The Styles & Smiles program is a church favorite every year; a tradition now in its fifth year. Sponsored by United Methodist Women, the show benefits the crucial programs of United Community Centers.
 
You are invited to this entertaining and heartwarming event. If you want to ride in a church van or caravan with us, we're leaving the church parking lot at 12:45 p.m. that day. We want to get to the Poly Center in time to visit some with the kids' families before the show starts. Afterwards, hang around for a reception of cookies and punch and more visiting.

Styles & Smiles Fashion Show helps kids... and grownups

This year's Styles & Smiles Fashion Show is coming up in less than two weeks. We invite you to join us on Tuesday July 26 at 2:00 p.m. at the Poly Center campus of United Community Centers. 
 
Either join us there (3100 Avenue I, Fort Worth, 76105; just a few short blocks south of the Texas Wesleyan University campus) or ride in one of our church vans (or caravan with the vans). If you want to be on a van, contact Rev. Beth Evers (817-731-0701) for a reservation.
 
Styles & Smiles brings a great deal to the community - tender loving care, most notably - and allows a great group of kids the opportunity to participate in a fun event. Girls and boys get real experience putting on a show involving all the latest stylish clothes and school uniforms. Each of the kids is either a model, a stylist, a greeter, or an usher. But the show also enriches the lives of grownups, who get to see the sheer joy and exuberance on the kids' faces.
 
Stay after the runway fun for a reception of cookies and punch. Meet the kids and their families! The Styles & Smiles Fashion Show is sponsored by Arborlawn's United Methodist Women for the benefit of the United Community Centers.

Styles & Smiles Fashion Show to help bring TLC to Poly neighborhood on July 26

Make plans to be at the Poly Center campus of United Community Centers on Tuesday, July 26 at 2:00 p.m. for this year’s Styles & Smiles Fashion Show. There is no charge for the show. The Poly Center is located at 3100 Avenue I, Fort Worth, 76105; just a few blocks south of the Texas Wesleyan University campus.
 
According to the Poly Center’s director, Frances Martinez, “We’re in the middle of a neighborhood that needs some tender loving care.” And TLC is certainly what the area in the southeast part of the city gets. 
 

The Styles & Smiles Fashion Show is only one of the myriad activities in which kids who attend the center get to participate. During Styles & Smiles, girls and boys get real experience producing a fun event involving all the latest stylish clothes and school uniforms. Each of the kids is either a model, a stylist, a greeter, or an usher. The event is sponsored by United Methodist Women and benefits all the important programs of the United Community Centers. A reception of cookies and punch is planned for after the runway extravaganza so you have a chance to meet the kids (and many of their parents and other relatives).
 
One of the kids is Kayla, a senior at Arlington Martin High School who has volunteered for three summers at United Community Centers and is working at Poly Center this summer. She is a mentor to some of the younger girls. “This is a really good program,” stated Kayla. “It helps bring out the kids’ personalities. They do things they don’t get to do everyday. And they end up having a lot of fun.”
 
Another young leader at the center is Vincent. Vincent attends Trimble Tech High School in Fort Worth and said the Poly Center is useful for keeping young people off the streets. “We reach a lot of kids. This is helpful for people in gangs and those hurt by violence. It’s a good place to be.”
 
We hope you take the time to come meet Kayla and Vincent and the other kids; young people who represent real hope for positive change in our current culture. 
 
Martinez says it’s not just the kids who are excited about Styles & Smiles; buzz for the show is circulating among parents too. It’s looking to be quite a wonderful event. And it will be even better with a big turnout from Arborlawn members to cheer the children on.

Summer is definitely here because the annual Styles & Smiles Fashion Show is coming up next month. This year’s event is scheduled for Tuesday, July 26 at 2:00 p.m. and will be held at the newly rebuilt Poly Center campus of United Community Centers.
 
 This exciting program features children from the Poly Center modeling all the latest styles and school uniforms. Each of the kids will either be a model, a stylist, a greeter, or an usher. The event is sponsored by United Methodist Women and benefits the important programs of the United Community Centers. A reception of cookies and punch is planned for after the runway extravaganza so you have a chance to meet the kids (and many of their parents and other relatives).
 
Plus, this year the event is being held away from Arborlawn, giving you the chance to see the new Poly facility; where the day-to-day work of the UCC happens.
