The Red Cross is sponsoring a blood drive called Every Pint Counts on Sunday, February 16 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Family Life Center.
We hope you will consider donating blood to help save lives. The last blood drive we had was very successful and helped replenish blood supplies used during the tragic events in West, Texas and Moore, Oklahoma. We learned that each unit of blood donated saves three lives. Our Arborlawn donors saved approximately 90 lives!
Schedule an appointment online today. Or contact our Red Cross Blood Drive Representative, Sheila Winans to make an appointment.
The need for blood is constant. Every day, patients in our communities are helped by donors who give their blood at blood drives. These are just a few examples of individuals Red Cross blood drives have recently helped: a liver transplant patient was treated with 75 units of red blood cells, platelets, and plasma; a bone marrow patient required 21 units of red blood cells; an artificial heart transplant patient was given more than 140 units of red blood cells, platelets, plasma, and cryoprecipitate; a lung transplant patent needed 38 units of red blood cells; a surgery patient received 39 units of red blood cells, seven units of platelets, and 28 units of plasma; a trauma victim required 15 units of red blood cells, 15 units of plasma, and three units of platelets in just one day. Thanks to the dedication and commitment of donors, blood products were available for these patients and many others like them.
