Prayer Ministry meeting Tuesday, May 7
Do you want to find out more about the Prayer Ministry at Arborlawn and help us get ready for the upcoming Central Texas Annual Conference? Join us on Tuesday, May 7 at 6:30 p.m. in Room 224. We will be signing and stamping postcards that will be sent to all Annual Conference delegates. The cards are a simple "we're praying for you" outreach. (Read more details about tis project in the separate story below.)
We will also be hearing reports and updates about other upcoming projects and events: prayer walks for the upcoming opening of the Elizabeth Cramer Chapel and for Annual Conference; the Student Prayer Partners ministry (read more below); a prayer garden and labyrinth; and the seminar speaker for September 24, LeAnne Hadley. Join us! All are welcome.
Student Prayer Partners ministry forming
The Prayer Ministry is currently looking for Student Prayer Partners for Arborlawn Students, and this may just be the type of mission for which you’ve been searching.
The program has three levels of commitment: Level 1 is for prayer only. No contact is made with the young person. Level 2 includes prayer and written communication; like birthday cards and occasional “Thinking of You,” encouragement-type correspondence. Level 3 is a mentoring relationship which includes parental guided, one-on-one time with the student.
The Prayer Ministry will be trying to match up volunteers with students in order to make this an enjoyable experience for both participants. To help with this, please include some Personal Notes about your interests when you sign up.
Also, for the safety of our students, an email-generated background check will be required for each volunteer. (Email is the preferred method of communication for this outreach. If you do not have email, please note an address and phone number where you can be reached.)
Some of the volunteers will be assigned right away and some will be assigned after the next confirmation class.
If you are interested in volunteering for this exciting new ministry, please provide the following information to Mary Johnson: Name, Level of interest (1, 2, or 3 as described above), and Personal Notes/Interests.
As soon as matches have been made, you will be contacted by either Abby Johnson or Dave Brower or by a member of the Prayer Ministry team. Thank you for your service.
Prayer postcards for Annual Conference delegates
As we prepare to welcome the delegates of the Central Texas Annual Conference to Arborlawn (June 9-12), the Prayer Ministry team is sponsoring a project to send postcards to each of the close to 1,000 delegates. These postcards are to let each individual delegate know that we are praying for him or her and to ask for God’s guidance and wisdom.
The Prayer Ministry team needs your help in this project. We are asking Arborlawn members to sign these cards and to agree to pray for the people receiving them. Prayer Ministry team members will be bringing the delegate prayer cards to small groups for signatures. The cards will also be available on Sundays May 12 and May 19 at the Welcome Kiosks and in the church office starting May 8. All cards should be signed and returned to the church office no later than Monday, May 20.
For how many delegates will you be praying? The Prayer Ministry would like to thank you, in advance, for continuing to make Arborlawn "a House and People of prayer."
