Arborlawn is once again holding a Fat Tuesday Pancake Dinner this year after a three-year hiatus. The Children's Day Out program is sponsoring the event on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 5-7:30 p.m. (come-and-go), in the Family Life Center. A love offering will be accepted, and the proceeds will benefit the Children’s Day Out Program.
Fat Tuesday is the day before Ash Wednesday. This is also known as Mardi Gras Day or Shrove Day. It is traditionally a day when people eat all they want of anything they want since the following day is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent (the season leading to Easter). Many Christians fast during Lent or sometimes give up something special they enjoy. So, Fat Tuesday can be a celebration and the opportunity to enjoy that favorite food or snack that you give up for Lent.
We invite you to join us for this fun (and filling!) family affair. We will be serving pancakes, syrup, and sausage. Come and enjoy the Mardi Gras decorations. We will have plenty of beads for you to wear. Take a night off from your kitchen and let us do the cooking. As our Cajun friends say, “Laissez les bons temps rouler!”
