Arborlawn's Never Alone Ministry was recently launched as a new and exciting outreach to widows in the Arborlawn community. We are in the formative stages of cultivating a new dimension for this ministry, which will reach out beyond just the social desires of widows to also include help in areas around the home that may be a challenge. We know we have a congregation full of gifted and talented people who offer a wide variety of skills that could be of benefit to these who now live by themselves. You will be hearing more about the Never Alone Ministry in your Sunday School classes in December.
Our desire is to prepare a list of reputable and reliable service persons and contractors who in the event of an emergency would be able to be called upon to help in areas of home repair; areas such as air conditioning and heating, plumbing, pest control, lawn and garden, carpentry, electrical, and painting. Other areas of expertise that might be useful to some include financial planning and legal advice.
We also hope to have enough church volunteers who will offer their time and talents to help a widow with small needs around the home. Ideally we would love to partner a widow with one individual who could be called upon when a need arises; and the individual would also call the widow once a month just to check in and see how everything is going. Everyone has been given gifts and talents to be shared with others. This ministry is a very simple and yet heartfelt way to use our God-given gifts.
We invite you to prayerfully consider being a part of this ministry, either by providing us with names of reputable contractors, or by volunteering your time to care for another. Please contact John Reed or DeAndrea Dare (817-731-0701) for more information or to let them know of your areas of interests and gifts. We look forward to partnering with you as we love and serve one another.
