Faith is believing without seeing. That certainly describes the Snack Sack committee and volunteers. Last fall, Nash Elementary lost its sponsor for Snack Sacks and asked if we could help. The answer was yes!
Our ministry was so excited to help another group of children. We prayed we would have the needed volunteers. This spring we added Chapel Hill Academy, and we are delighted to help even more students.
In our faith we are called to serve. The Snack Sack volunteers are passionate about working to serve children who may not have enough food on the weekends. This need continues year round. During the summer the snack sacks are delivered to the Bethlehem Center location of United Community Centers.
It is such fun to visit the schools and the centers and watch the kids learn and play. We never know which kids are hungry. The school counselors determine those in need.
Last month, Beth Evers wrote an article and the response of additional volunteers was met. What a blessing! This ministry also needs financial support. We deliver nearly 200 Snack Sacks each week. This amounts to between $500 and 600 weekly. Please consider making a financial donation (designate Snack Sacks on your check) and help these hungry kids.
The scriptures say "Ask and it will be given to you." (Matthew 7:7) We are asking.
