SINGLES GROUP MEETS OCTOBER 18
Arborlawn's Singles Group is meeting Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 6 p.m. in Room 214. The group will be looking at The Single Effect - a study on singles and their impact on the Biblical narrative. This Tuesday, they'll set the stage with David - who although he eventually got married to a lot of women and had relationships with many others - started his illustrious career as a brash, ruddy, yet still handsome single guy.

CHANCEL CHOIR PLANNING OPEN REHEARSAL

SUNDAY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR WELCOME KIOSKS
From Carol Proctor: Volunteers are needed in the Welcome Kiosks in the Lower Commons (outside the main Sanctuary entrance) on Sunday mornings. The only requirements are a smile and willingness to meet new people. There are four shifts: 8:15-8:55 a.m., 9:25-10:05 a.m., 9:55-10:25 a.m., and 10:20-11 a.m. You can serve during whatever shift best suits your schedule. BOY SCOUT TROOP 50 CHILI SUPPER
Boy Scouts Troop 50 (a group that meets regularly at Arborlawn) is holding a Chili Supper fundraiser on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 6-7:30 p.m. in the SAM Building. Tickets – $4 per person or three tickets for $10 – will be on sale this Sunday at one of the Welcome Kiosks in Lower Commons between services. Please help support this worthy endeavor.
POLY CENTER NEEDS VOLUNTEERS
From Joanne Bittiker: Polytechnic Center (United Community Centers, Inc.) needs additional volunteers to help on Wednesdays or Fridays at the clothing room in the center. You may even choose to be on the substitute list. Work consists of unpacking and hanging donated clothes or folding clothes and checking out clients in the clothing room. You may choose to work one day a month, twice a month, every week, etc. Please contact Joanne Bittiker or Madelyn Dean for more details. Again, thank you for all the beautiful clothes you are donating. Keep them coming.
NICA FOR OCTOBER: THANKSGIVING FOOD
The Northside Inter-Community Agency is asking for Thanksgiving food for the month of October. Bring donations to the NICA baskets in Room 230 (adjacent to the kitchen) or to the SAM Building.
MERRYMAKERS: GRAPEVINE SEA LIFE AQUARIUM
Merrymakers (Arborlawn’s Seniors Group) is going to Grapevine Sea Life Aquarium on Thursday, Nov. 3. The group will leave the church at 9:30 a.m. The cost is $19. Lunch is at the Rainforest Cafe. Gas cost is $5 per person. Contact Janet Roberson for details.
DOCENT TOURS
Docents are available at 9:45 a.m., on Sunday mornings to share their knowledge of the symbols in Arborlawn’s new Sanctuary. Other times are available by appointment. We invite you to explore and learn more about these wonderful treasures. To schedule your Sunday School group or any other group, please contact Karen White-Dacy.
CANDY NEEDED FOR PUMPKIN PATCH
We are collecting candy for the upcoming Pumpkin Patch for the children (Sunday, Oct. 30, 5-7 p.m.) Please bring donations to the collection box in the Gathering Area or in the hallway in the Children’s Ministries area. Thank you for your support of the kids.
MERRYMAKERS POTLUCK
On Oct. 26, the usual fourth Wednesday of the month, Merrymakers (Arborlawn's seniors group) will be meeting in the SAM Building. You are invited to join us in a prayer at Noon followed by a spectacular covered dish luncheon. Plenty of traditional Methodist casseroles and rich desserts will be consumed.
