FAITHWALK ROTATION: GOD'S WORD
Our FaithWalk rotation for Kids' Sunday School for Sept. 25 through Oct. 23 is God's Word. Our Bible is the living word of God. It is God's own story, and it is true forever. God inspired many people to write down teachings and stories in the Bible, and He inspires us to read and study it today so we can learn how to live faithfully. For this rotation, we'll be in HolyWord Theater, Circuit Riders, Joseph's Workshop, Wondrous Acts, and Discovery.
STUDENT MINISTRIES SUMMER MISSIONS LUNCHEON - OCTOBER 2
From Abby Johnson: We welcome you to join us for our first student ministries summer missions luncheon this school year on Sunday, Oct. 2. We're finally moving our base of operations to the Main Building! The luncheon will be in the Gathering Area (by old Sanctuary), and to-go meals will be available in both the Main Building Kitchen (upstairs by the Worship Center) and Room 170 (the Groom's Room; just off the Lower Commons). These luncheons allow us to keep our student mission trip prices affordable to our students, often covering the cost of van rental and gas to and from our various locations. They also allow us to fellowship and share a meal together as a congregation. We hope to see you there!
WMAA BOOK CLUB
The next meeting of the WMAA Book Club is Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 11:30 a.m. in Room 220, Main Building. We will be discussing Half-Broke Horses: A True Life Novel by Jeannette Walls.
BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENINGS
The Faith Community Nurse Ministry will be screening blood pressure on Sunday, Sept. 25 before and after the 11 a.m. and 11:11 a.m. worship services. The screenings are in Room 170 (located on the west side of the building on the Sanctuary level). Please note: We are modifying the schedule for blood pressure screenings to a once per month offering. We will continue to monitor requests for the screenings and may alter this schedule, if needed. Please contact Pam Perrine, RN, FCN if you have any questions.
SECURITY CHECK-IN FOR KIDS
Coming in October, we will implement a new security check-in system in our Children’s Ministry hallway. Our hope is to create a secure environment to give parents peace of mind while attending church. KidCheck will help us stay safe, keep good records of attendance, ensure accurate contact information, allow parents to create and update their own guardian lists from their home, contact parents directly over their cell phone via SMS text message, and much more. Learn more at Kidcheck.com.
PUMPKIN PATCH OCTOBER 30
This year we're holding Pumpkin Patch again. (We took a break last year because of construction.) Join us Sunday, Oct. 30 from 5-7 p.m. Watch for more details as Halloween gets closer.
SEPTEMBER UCC NEEDS
United Community Centers needs money for school uniform polo shirts for elementary kids. If you give your money through the church, we can purchase the shirts as tax deductible and at a group discount price. The generous donation of uniforms this summer is being used wisely. However, we found there is a void in school polo shirts for children. We need to buy most of the shirts. Thank you for your generosity this summer with donation of clothes.
WHAT DO STEPHEN MINISTERS DO?
From Judy Williamson: Stephen Ministers celebrate with fathers of newborn infants. Stephen Ministers encourage fathers of infants and toddlers. The best things in life always turn life upside down. Stephen Ministers can laugh with you upside down and right side up.
