C A R L I E B A R B E R
Carlie is the daughter of Kim and Tony Barber and sister to Avery. She will graduate from Paschal High School. At Paschal, she was a co-captain in cheerleading. In addition to being in National Honor Society, Carlie received the Paschal Society Academic Excellence Award, was a Radio Shack Scholar, and was a Lockheed Martin Scholar. Carlie was also involved in Key Club, Student Council, Link Crew, Royal Purple, and yearbook staff. She was in the top 10 percent of the senior class, was voted “best smile,” was a lifeguard, and volunteered for three summers at Cook Children’s Hospital.
At church, Carlie enjoyed having fun with friends at Sunday School and church and meeting new people.
Carlie plans to attend Texas A&M University to major in kinesiology to become a physical therapist. Carlie stated, “I’ve learned that God is always there for me, and I have my family and friends at Arborlawn to thank for their support.”
R E I D B O L L E R
Reid is the son of Lisa and Ben Boller and brother to Brady, Kate, and Jack. He will graduate from Paschal High School where he was involved in Varsity Tennis, Science Bowl, and National Honor Society. As Captain of the Science Bowl, he competed nationally in Washington, DC. His academic honors include: National Merit Commended Scholar, College Board AP Scholar with Distinction, Superintendent Scholar, and Radio Shack Scholar.
At Arborlawn, Reid was involved in the youth group. He also assisted with VBC for two years. There are good memories from watching his church unify with another and becoming stronger for it. He’s also participated in summer mission camps.
Reid is attending Ohio State University in the fall where he will major in chemistry. After graduation, he plans to attend medical school to become a pediatric hematologist oncologist and hopefully use his passion for science and medicine to help children.
H A N N A H B R I S C O E
Hannah is the daughter of Tina and John Briscoe and sister to Kyle and Victoria. She graduates from North Crowley High School where she’s been active in Band, National Honor Society, Student Council, and Science Club. She has served as the President of Student Council, Vice President of the Senior Class, and Treasurer of the Science Club. Hannah was recognized as the Outstanding Junior, is a National Merit Commended Scholar, and is a National Hispanic Merit Scholar.
Her favorite memories at Arborlawn include Youth Choir and Handbells, Mission Trips, Sunday Evening Activities, and helping with Children’s Choir Camps.
Hannah will attend Austin College in Sherman and then PT school to become a physical therapist. In her words, “I am so happy to have this extended family at Arborlawn!”
T A R A N E É G A R Z A
Taraneé Garza is daughter of Ben and Joni Garza and sister of Petra and Emilio. She’ll be graduating from C.F. Brewer High School. During high school, Taraneé was in marching band for four years and concert band for seven years. She was band Vice President and the saxophone row leader and was awarded band sweetheart for 2010. She qualified for state level of band solo and ensemble three times. She’s a two-year member of NHS.
Taraneé absolutely loved the mission trips at Arborlawn and thought the relationships she made on those were special and the memories unforgettable. She also thought the youth worship was a great experience; knowing the songs and taking something out of it every time.
She plans to attend the University of North Texas and major in biology to become a doctor. In her words: “I have been going to Arborlawn for four years now. I was so welcomed when I first came. Thank you, Abby, for listening when I needed you and thanks to my family for helping me to become the person I am.”
K A C Y H A M I L T O N
Kacy is the daughter of Shelley and Kris Hamilton and sister to Ryan. She has attended and will graduate from Arlington Heights High School, where she has been involved in National Honor Society, Student Council, and FCA. She played Varsity Volleyball, where she served as the Captain. She was also active in the orientation of freshmen on campus and was an Interact Community Service member.
At Arborlawn, Kacy has been involved in all aspects of Student Ministry. She’s especially enjoyed church basketball, mission Wednesdays, and mission trips. In her words: “Mission trip has always been an incredible experience for me. Being able to give someone a fresh start is an amazing experience and it has shown me that even small things make a big difference.”
Kacy will attend Texas A&M University and major in mechanical engineering.
Z A C H A R Y H E N D E R S O N
Zachary is the son of Dawn and David Henderson and brother to Shannon. He graduates from Western Hills High School, where he’s been involved in Varsity Soccer, Cross Country, UIL Academics, and National Honor Society. He is also involved with Boy Scouts of America, where he is a Life Scout and has camped more than 250 nights. Zachary will work to complete his Eagle Project this month. He has come a long way from his Russian roots!
At Arborlawn, he was involved in Children’s Choir and more recently has been helping with the technology in InSearch.
Zachary is attending Texas Tech University, where he will study chemical engineering.
S A R A H K E L L E R
Sarah is the daughter of Kelly and Robert Keller and the sister of Brooks. She is graduating from All Saints’ Episcopal School where she was involved in field hockey, soccer, athletic training, and Spirit Club.
Sarah has enjoyed her time at Arborlawn, going on mission trips since 7th grade. She’s played church basketball, attended church luncheons, participated in the Pumpkin Patch, and been involved in some of the weekly summer activities.
She will be attending University of Alabama to study sports medicine.
S A R A H R O S E M I L L I O N
Sarah Rose is the daughter of Debra and Clark Million and sister to Mary Layne. She is graduating from Paschal High School, where she was in the top five percent of her class. She was honored as a National Merit Commended Scholar, Radio Shack Scholar, Paschal Society for Academic Excellence, AP Scholar, Superintendent’s Scholar, and member of Royal Purple. She lettered in swimming as a four year member of the Varsity Girl’s Swim Team, where she was a Regional Qualifier and named Academic All-American two years in a row. She was a three year member of the City Champion Whiz Quiz Team, member of Student Council, member of National Honor Society, winner of the PENTA Club Top Ten Calculus Students Math Award, and a three-year participant in the Young Artist Apprenticeship Program. She earned the President’s Volunteer Service Award for performing more than 100 hours of community service in a variety of activities at the Fort Worth Public Library, the Arborlawn Food Pantry, the Humane Society of North Texas, and by tutoring at Alice D. Contreras Elementary School.
At Arborlawn, Sarah Rose has participated in mission trips for the past two years; first in 2009 to help with hurricane relief in Beaumont, TX, and then in 2010 with Alabama Rural Ministries. One of her favorite things about the mission trips is the Trinkas’ cooking! She says these trips are her favorite youth group memories.
Sarah Rose will be attending the University of Oklahoma and has been accepted into the Honors College. She plans on pursuing a double major in paleontology and zoology.
R Y A N O R T I Z
Ryan Ortiz is the son of Karen and David Lanford, grandson of Alice and David Jackson, and brother to Rachel. He graduates from Azle High School, where he was very focused on Soccer. He is a four-year Letterman and was also placed on the All-District Team all four years. He served as Team Captain during his Junior and Senior Years and was named MVP in 2011. Ryan is also a talented musician; he plays keyboard and bass in a four-piece band.
At Arborlawn, he’s grateful for making a lot of new friends, and he has loved going on mission trips. He will always enjoy his memories of Arborlawn.
Ryan will attend University of North Texas where he plans to study art history. In his words: “My church family is very important to me, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds!”
K A T H E R I N E S H I R L E Y
Katie is the daughter of Brenda and Scott Shirley and sister to Lauren. She will graduate from Southwest High School, where she has been involved in National Honor Society and Youth & Government. She placed 7th at Youth & Government District, where she advanced to State and placed 6th. She has been a Radio Shack Scholar and on the A/B Honor Roll all four years. She graduates 7th in her class of 324.
She will always love her memories of Arborlawn mission trips (especially the ticks in Missouri) and always coming in 2nd place with Sarah as her partner in Birdie-on-a-Perch. She’s been very involved in Sunday Evening Activities and the Leadership Program.
Katie is attending Texas A&M University as a biomedical science major and plans to become a small-animal veterinarian.
C H R I S T O P H E R S L O A N
Chris is the son of Michelle and David Sloan and brother to Jeffrey, Patrick, and Elizabeth. He graduates from Southwest High School, where he’s been involved in band, Whiz Quiz, freshman baseball, and National Honor Society. Chris is a National Merit Finalist, an AP Scholar, a Radio Shack Scholar, and a FWISD Superintendent Scholar. He has also been involved in Boy Scouts of America, where he is working to earn the rank of Eagle Scout.
At Arborlawn, Chris has been on the mission trips to Gulf Port, Nevada, Beaumont, and Alabama. He has also been on several ski trips and is active in choir, handbells, Sunday Evening Activities and the Leadership Program.
He will attend the University of Texas at Austin this fall where he will major in electrical and computer engineering.
M A D E L I N E W A D E
Madi is the daughter of Barbara and Craig Wade and sister to Morgan. She will graduate from Trinity Valley School where she has been involved in Varsity Cheerleading and the Community Service Club.
Her favorite moments at Arborlawn include mission trips, Sunday School with Tom and Karen, her 6th Grade Confirmation Retreat with Ben, her Confirmation Class at Glen Lake, and helping with Children’s Sunday School.
Madi plans to attend Texas Christian University to pursue either nursing or speech therapy. “I would like to thank Abby for being the incredible role-model she has been for me and Dave, Ben Disney, and the Arborlawn family for this incredible church community I have grown up within. I am so blessed to be a part of Arborlawn, and I will always cherish the memories and remember the mark that this church has left in my life!”
